But in all fairness there is a fair amount here to do and this is perhaps one of the most meaty games I've reviewed on this site. The story is rather long at just over one hundred chapters. Like most visual novels I think it's a little hard to dislike, I'm sure most of you can see yourself either staying with it though or getting really frustrated with it. The only real bad thing about this visual novel is that it does take about three hours of your time which is a little long for a visual novel. But at least you get some punchy and fun choices along your way. The visual novel is about all Makoto can do to connect with his many different friends, I guess it's a first for a Japanese visual novel to have so many choices. The characters here are a little too flat to get really attached to, I also don't think the story is terribly interesting to read. Not a bad thing at all, I just don't think this game goes as hard as it can go.
Although the mechanics are fairly simple, they are followed through to the end. If you like the gameplay of previous visual novels I would say this looks to be one of their best. If you don't care much for the gameplay you might be disappointed with some of the choices here, but if you like what you see you should be satisfied.
The actual presentation of the game is very standard for a visual novel from the mid 1990's. The characters look well drawn and modeled and since they are high school students the character artwork looks very anime style. There is minimal plot text and the story scrolls in the background. The voice acting is acceptable, nothing terrible or good but nothing really memorable. The soundtrack is very old school Japanese pop music and the only other thing I can notice is that you will be hearing the song "Kimi no Feelin'" several times which is kind of annoying. Also you hear a bit of one of the promotional songs for the visual novel which is another embarrassment. d2c66b5586
