After you run your source material through the Expression Encoder 4 Pro, you'll want to handle video delivery to client devices. There are many options for delivery, including streaming the video to an IP address with HTTPS using HTTP Live Streaming with adaptive bit rate video and 1 HTTP Live Streaming playlist.
One of the major features of Expression Encoder is its ability to automatically convert any format of audio/video file to any other format. To do this, Expression Encoder uses the same in-line conversion algorithms that are used with IIS Media Services and many of its other products on the market. This means that files of any type are processed with the same algorithms as all other files. This includes multiple file formats, type and length - creating a true Universal source.
You are also able to use the Expressions encoder with Google Drive as a location for saving the final manifests and the encoded files. You will need to modify the transcoding settings to enable Google Drive in the encoder.
You can use Windows Authentication to protect IIS Media Services so that only authorized users can access it. And you can also specify alternative delivery URLs in case the first URL you publish to becomes unavailable. You can also store broadcast streams in the media archive and replay them later.
Last but not least, we wanted to capture a few moments from the several hours of testing I did with this Encoder, so below you can find the walk-through of an original IIS Media Services 4 and Expression Encoder 4 Pro stream that were recorded on the test bench. d2c66b5586
